Whale Rider

This movie was no Howl's Moving Castle... Hahahahah.  It raised several questions for me as I sat here and watched the movie.  The first one was, what kind of whale is that? This started a heated debate with my friend where we finally decided that it was a right whale. Some of the other question we of the significance of certain rituals and objects. If you watch the movie, you'll see what I'm talking about.  I know there has to be something important going on with the boat. Overall, I really liked this movie.  It felt like all the characters had very defined archetypal roles, but instead of limiting them, the roles really helped to make the characters much more robust.  It was rather unusual. Anyway, my opinion is that this movie is worth renting, though I will warn you that the New Zealand accent is really hard to understand sometimes. :)
